Children and Young People

What’s on for children and young people?

Children and young people are very welcome at all of our services and events, at both St Mary’s Goudhurst and Christ Church Kilndown. Activities specifically for children and young people usually take place at St Mary’s Goudhurst.

Children and young people are involved in just about everything we do. We aim to help them explore the Christian faith and grow as disciples of Jesus.

The main things designed specially for children and young people are:

  • Sunday Groups. These are every other Sunday during termtime, at Goudhurst. They start at 10.30 (if you arrive later than that, it’s completely fine - just come when you can). They come into church just before the end of the 10:45 service, so between 11:30 and 11:45, usually in time for Communion, and rejoin their parents or carers. The groups are:

    • Scramblers (babies to pre-schoolers) - in the Children’s Chapel

    • Climbers (Reception to Year 2) - in Goudhurst & Kilndown Primary School

    • Pathfinders (Years 3 to 6) - in Goudhurst & Kilndown Primary School

    • Pioneers (Years 7 to 8) - in Goudhurst & Kilndown Primary School

    • Explorers (Years 9 to 11) - in Goudhurst & Kilndown Primary School

    • Ignite (Years 12 and 13) - in the Star & Eagle

  • Worship for Everyone. This is the 10:45 service every other Sunday, at St Mary’s Goudhurst, for people of all ages.

  • Blend, which is our pop-up café on Wednesdays from 4-6pm, for Years 7 to 10.

  • Café Toddlers, on Friday mornings 9-11am, for babies, toddlers and their parents/carers.

  • Baptisms happen during some of our main services or at other times, for children, young people and indeed adults.

  • Special services designed especially for children, young people and their families take place at various times during the year, particularly at Christmas and Harvest Festival.

A completed registration form is required for each child or young person attending a group.  Download here or complete on arrival. For more information please contact the Vicar (rachel.robertson@gkchurch.org).

We take our Safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and each group or service involving children or young people is led by adults who have been been through our Safer Recruitment process and a DBS check. We apply Safeguarding rules to all our online work with children and young people.
